Environmental Samples

Toxicity tests are required to assess the hazard of contaminated sediment and soils for the inhabiting fauna. C.elegans (ISO 10872) has shown to be a suitable organism for testing the toxicity of metals and organic chemicals in sediments (e.g. Tuikka et al. 2011; Feiler et al. 2013) and soils (Höss et al. 2009; Huguier 2013).

Following environmental samples can be tested:

  • Contaminated sediments: e.g. dredged material
  • Contaminated soil: e.g. from polluted industrial sites
  • Waste
  • Extracts, elutriates or porewater from sediments and soils
  • Waste water
